You know how you have those friends that have a funny quirk, or something they do just because it's their personality? Well, basically if I care about someone at all, I take them out for coffee. If you're having a bad day, I'll take you to coffee. If you want to meet up, I'll meet up with you at a coffee place. If you want to go on a date, I'll suggest - Okay, you get the picture.
I don't know why I do it, exactly. It's just the perfect environment. If it gets awkward you can drink your coffee, (or tea!) or munch on your muffin. But if your having a good time, you can sit there and talk for hours. And not to mention that I can succumb to my addiction to an extra hot, triple mocha. ;)
